Royalwin Ceylon International Pvt Ltd was founded in 2018 with a clear vision to elevate Sri Lankan specialty coffee onto the global stage. Building on years of experience and deep-rooted community connections, the company proudly operates under its flagship brand, Helanta Coffee, which has become a symbol of quality, sustainability, and innovation in the Sri Lankan coffee industry.

Royalwin Ceylon International traces its roots back to 2012 when its founder, Mr. Tharanga Muramudali, began his journey in coffee through the launch of Natural Coffee in Kandy in collaboration with a Japanese investor. Recognizing early the rising global demand for specialty coffee, he strategically positioned the company to meet international standards while empowering local communities.

Today, Royalwin Ceylon International specializes in the production and supply of premium green bean and roasted coffee, serving both the local HORECA (hotel, restaurant, café) sector and international specialty markets. The company operates a dual model, supplying unbranded green beans to clients while proudly marketing roasted products under the Helanta Coffee brand.

Helanta Coffee is cultivated across high-elevation plantations between 1100 and 1500 meters in the Kothmale region, using fully organic and sustainable farming methods. By focusing on micro-lot specialty coffee, single-origin quality, and natural processing techniques such as wet, honey, and dry methods, the company delivers rich and diverse flavor profiles that reflect the unique terroir of Sri Lanka.

At the heart of Royalwin Ceylon’s operations is a strong commitment to community empowerment. With a network of over 1500 farmers, the company continuously supports rural development by providing training, distributing free coffee plants, ensuring fair pricing, and introducing environmentally friendly farming practices.

Royalwin Ceylon International has proudly achieved significant milestones, including international recognition at the World Barista Championship in Melbourne, the prestigious Great Taste Award in the UK, and multiple national awards for entrepreneurship and industry excellence.

Looking forward, the company is pioneering the development of Sri Lanka’s first coffee village, integrating coffee tourism, sustainable farming, and rural economic development into a single transformative initiative.

Our Story

Behind the Brand

I’m Tharanga Muramudali, the Founder and Managing Director of Helanta Coffee and Royalwin Ceylon International Pvt Ltd. My journey into the world of coffee began over a decade ago when I saw a unique opportunity in something most people overlooked. While Sri Lanka has a long history with tea, I realized that our highland regions held untapped potential for producing world-class specialty coffee. At that time, the global demand for high-quality, origin-traceable coffee was only beginning to grow, and I knew this was the right moment to start something extraordinary.

In 2012, I took my first step by launching a coffee shop called Natural Coffee in Kandy with the support of a Japanese investor. It was more than just a business. It became my learning ground, a place where I connected with global coffee experts, roasters, farmers, and passionate enthusiasts. Through those experiences, I immersed myself in every aspect of the specialty coffee journey from cultivation and processing to roasting and brewing. With that knowledge and experience, I launched Royalwin Ceylon International and introduced Helanta Coffee as a proudly Sri Lankan specialty coffee brand.

From the beginning, my approach has always been strategic and community-focused. I built strong connections with over 1500 farming families in the Kothmale area and introduced a model that supports them through training, free plant distribution, and premium pricing. I invested in sustainable practices like agroforestry, organic farming, and wild harvesting because I believe quality and responsibility must go hand in hand. We maintain single estate, high elevation coffee farms that produce distinct taste profiles through natural, wet, and honey processing methods.

Today, Helanta Coffee is recognized as one of the leading specialty coffee brands in Sri Lanka. We’ve been featured in international competitions, scored over 84 points at the World Barista Championship in Melbourne, and proudly received the Great Taste Award in the UK. Our coffees are served in high-end hotels across Sri Lanka and exported to countries like Japan, Australia, and Canada.

Looking ahead, my vision is to transform Kothmale into the first internationally recognized coffee village in Sri Lanka. I want to create a platform where rural communities thrive through coffee-based entrepreneurship, tourism, and knowledge sharing. I see Helanta not just as a brand, but as a movement that represents the future of Sri Lankan coffee a future rooted in sustainability, innovation, and community empowerment.

This journey has taught me that great things are possible when we combine passion with purpose and vision with action. I am proud to lead this transformation and even more proud to do it alongside the people who have believed in the dream from the beginning.
